News & Events
Oak Canyon Club business meetings are held the first Thursday of the months September through June with a hiatus in July and August. Usual meeting time is 10:00 a.m. – noon and the location is the Murer House. Dirt Gardener meetings are usually held the fourth Thursday of the month September through June. Meeting times and locations are subject to change according to the activity. Overall program chair, Pauline Irons, oversees all special programs. Members are requested to confirm their attendance for Dirt Gardener meetings with the designated hosts/hostesses. The Murer HouseIn the early 1920’s Giuseppe Murer built a private residence near downtown Folsom. His home was built in the classic Italian style much as homes in his native town of Crespano Del Grappo were built. This building has been declared a historic site. As such, the Club has assumed the role of pruning the roses and caring for the tier plantings as one of the primary civic improvement projects. In exchange for this on-going work, the Club has been given the privilege to use the Murer House for regular club meetings. Map shown below: Map of directions to The Murer House Community GardenFor many years now, Gladys Trejo has generously invited club members to her home to develop their skills producing vegetables, fruits, and flowers. Garden plots are located on her property adjacent to her home. Anyone interested in this project needs to speak directly to Gladys. |
